Some Interesting Work I’ve Led

  • Was a partner at a small DFW consultancy called Sparkten that focused on providing strategy, marketing, and project management services to small businesses.
  • Led the 50 member Enterprise PMO organization at Best Buy.
  • In a strange dichotomy of working environments, I’ve led IT teams in both pet food and beauty care factories.
  • Managed IT and portfolio relationships for the marketing, PR, analytics, and store design organizations at Best Buy.
  • Taught project management and change management techniques in small classes to over 1000 professionals around the world.
  • Project managed one of P&G’s largest ever marketing campaigns for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
  • Worked and invested in two Dallas / Fort Worth based start-ups including lonelycrates.com and thinstaff.com.
  • Project managed a supply chain transformation effort for 3PL logistics across 200+ plants and distribution centers.
  • Opened a corporate innovation office in Silicon Valley and established relationships with venture capital and start-up organizations.  Accelerated five proof of concept initiatives.
  • Was an assistant brand manager for the Iams pet food company focused on the “savory sauce” product.
  • Project managed and provided strategy consulting on transformation of the Tax Coach product to the Tax Master Network service platform that now serves 60+ independent CPA’s and financial planners.
  • I actually prepared contingency plans for the dreaded year 2000 “bug” that was supposed to shut down the world.
  • I started my career programming and implementing SAP / ERP systems.
  • And, for whatever reason, I think it’s fun to share that as a college intern at Cummins Engine, I was given the task of publishing the company’s website. That’s because at that time a corporate website was such low value work it was assigned to the intern. Almost equivalent to fetching coffee for the team.
